1. Game specifications

This game is designed for 2-4 players.

Any upper secondary school student and above will be able to enjoy and understand this game.

2. Game scenario

In this game, the players act as companies to earn the most money and investors’ confidence for the most successful IPO. At the end of the day, only the best company will emerge as the winner.

3. Aim and objective of the game

The aim and objective of the game is to make as much money as possible. Each player will assume the role of a company in a particular company. Players must try to meet listing criteria(see below) for SGX Main board by earning profits from answering the questions and taking up risks as listed in the different cards available. The player with the highest net worth at the end of the game, wins.
The net worth is determined by the

Calculation of the player’s net assets ( cash and other purchased assets) – liabilities + Total share price.

Total share price: Number of shares x Share price.

Should there be a tie in the net worth between the players, the number of investor confidence ships would be the determining factor of who is the ultimate winner.

Point to take note of: Players are not given any revenue at the start of the game and therefore have to build their company’s wealth through the question game cards, “asset emporium cards”-which have the element of luck are part of a winning strategy and players should make use of the various fund raising option to raise funds to be able to purchase the “asset emporium cards” should they lack the capital to make purchases.

The 2 main Listing criteria :

1

Cumulative and consolidated Pre Tax profit of at least S$7.5 million for the last 3 consecutive years.

2

At least S$1 million a year in each of the 3 years.

Funds raising

a)
IPO (Initial Public Offering)

IPO will be offered to companies offering their shares to others to raise funds for other uses eg expansion. There will be a listing expenses of S$1million, to be subtracted from the amount raised from IPO.

b) Rights Issue

Players who chose to give out rights issue to raise funds will have to pick a card from the “Rights Issue cards” to determine the rights issued size.

The card shows the rights issuing ratio, percentage of existing ordinary shares being exercised for issue, current share price and exercise price.

Eg Ratio 1:5

70% took up Rights issue

Total no. of Ordinary shares issued: 1million

Exercise Price: $1.30

Current Share price: $3.40

For every 5 ordinary shares that you hold, you are entitled to 1 right.

No of new shares issued: No. of Ordinary shares issued *Ratio *% given (1million*1/5*70%=140000 Rights issued)

Funds Raised: No of new shares issued * exercise price

Rights issuing is one of the funding methods in which funds are raised thru it’s existing shareholders. Rights issue gives them the rights but not an obligation to buy the company’s shares at the discount price compared to market share price.

c) Bonds Issue

Funds Raised $100,000

=$100,000-1%

=$99,000
